Summer Poem Competition
Thank you to all children who entered. Rebecca, Laura and Mrs Robinson enjoyed reading them.
It was very difficult to choose winners but eventually we decided on four to put on the website.
Here they are:
SUMMER POEM
Sun shines in the sky children playing in the pool
Birds call cuckoo cuckoo! Get dressed bright and shine.
It really is summer time
Red roses grow beautiful and bright
High in the sky flies a kite
Toddlers playing on the slides
Children going on some rides
Dogs chasing other dogs
Across the wooden logs
Horses running in the fields
Hungry ready for their meals.
Children tired going to bed
Laying down their sleepy heads
Stars sparkle nice and bright
Moon shining lovely and light

Summer Time
The sun is out and the sky’s blue,
No staying indoors there’s lots to do.
Running, jumping, playing games,
Fields, meadows down the lanes.
Birds, butterflies, crickets cheep
Flying, fluttering jumps and leaps.
There are lots of meadows filled with flowers,
Unlike in winter there are lots of showers.
In the blue sky is the bright golden sun,
But the children down below are having so much fun.
Down in the field there are lots of cows
And also in the field there are some sows.
Ponds are calm and clear, they shimmer
They sparkle like jewels, they seem to glimmer.
By the banks sit tadpoles and frogs,
Croaking happily on slimy wet logs
Insects scary in busy moods
Twitching, searching for their favourite foods.
Flowers blossom into pretty blooms,
To scent and decorate every room.
Summer’s warm, light and airy,
You see it’s here with floating fairies.

SUMMER
Summer for me is the best of the seasons,
It’s my favourite for many many reasons,
First it is clear that the days are longer,
And the sun shines bright and is a lot stronger,
So we have to be careful, there is a lesson to learn,
If you stay out too long your skin will burn,
Then there is the excitement of going away,
All the fun we can have on a family holiday
Some people go far and the others stay near,
I normally go for a week and wish it was a year,
Even at home there is a lot for us to do,
Riding bikes or playing in the paddling pool,
The garden has pretty flowers, some covered with bees,
My mum says these can make my brother sneeze,
Summer is just a great time to play with my friends,
Because we all enjoy the time when school ends.
