As part of science, in Year 5, we investigate which material is the best thermal insuator.

Year 5 Trip 2009

This Year, we travelled to Hull to experience a Victorian classroom at the Hands On History Museum. They also showed us some Victorian toys and let us play with some.

While our class was there, the other class went to the Street-Life Museum, where there was a Victorian Street and lots of vehicles to see. In this museum a guide talked to us about bridges. After lunch, we swopped over.

Here are some pictures of 5JR from our trip.

Autumn Term 2007

African masks

An expert on African masks came in to visit us this term and brought with him some amazing artifacts for us to look at and draw. The children were fascinated with his talk and produced some excellent art work to take home.

DT Project

Our DT project at this time of year is to research, design and make biscuits to sell at the Christmas fair. Our aim is to sell the biscuits at a profit, we hope to make about £20.00 by selling them for 15p each. We used a spreadsheet to calculate the possible costs and profits.

The project was a success and the money will go into school fund.

Rugby

Some children in Year 5 have been enjoying playing rugby after school.
